Step By Step How to use GoDaddy SSL certificate for Lync Server 2010 and Lync Server 2013

I am using Go-daddy UCC certifiactes with Lync 2010 & Lync 2013 & it works perfectly fine. Below process will explain how to use Go-daddy UCC certificate with Lync.

Buy Go-daddy UCC certificate from godaddy.com
Once you buy the certificate Go to your account & lauch SSL certificates.
It will ask you for your CSR file to generate CSR login to your EDGE server & generate CSR & copy the CSR & paste it in Go-daddy page.

Note SN - sip.KARTHIKSURI.com
SAN will be - meet.KARTHIKSURI.com, dialin.KARTHIKSURI.com, lyncweb.KARTHIKSURI.com, lyncdiscover.KARTHIKSURI.com

So let generate CSR file,
Login to Edge server & open Lync deployment wizard->Install or Update Lync Server System, Request,Install and Assign certificates.

  1. Select External Edge Certificate ; click on Request.
  2. Click Next to continue
  3. Select "Prepare the request now, but send it later" option" & click Next.
  4. Provide File Name & location to save certificate request file and click Next.
  5. Click Next to continue.
  6. Provide friendly name to certificate that will appear as your certificate name.
  7. As discussed above your SN (subject Name) should be sip.doamin.com
  8. Select configure SIP domain and continue.
  9. Add your SAN names &; Click next to Finish.

Now click on View to view the CSR file contents. Copy all CSR file content.

Paste copied CSR file contents into the Godaddy page & select options   to Generate certificate.

Check Signature Algorithm and Certificate Issuing Organization are set to correct.

Once you generate the certificate you will receive couple of emails from GoDaddy for certificate approval.

We have successfully completed the authentication process and issued your SSL certificate for the domain:
sip.domain.com.
